Hello friends! I’m here to share with you some of my music favorites in the month of February!
1: Billie Eilish’s Feature in Vogue Magazine
I cannot remember when the last time I read an actual magazine was.
Maybe on a long car ride years ago???
Beside that, I distinctly remember being really young and my mom would buy me Seventeen Magazine from Walgreens, and it would entertain me for hours! I would read and re-read the articles, obsess over the lives of Disney Channel stars, and just the whole shebang.
Well, the other day my boyfriend came home with this magazine for me, even though I’m not big on magazines, but because he knew I really liked Billie Eilish.
And boy, my inner child really came out.
I LOVED reading the articles on Billie, and seeing her beautiful photos. It was such a treat to hold an actual magazine in my hands and flip through the pages. It was definitely a cool experience that felt different than just seeing Billie on the ‘gram.
2: Daniel Caesar
Okay listen, I don’t know if I’m late to the game or what my deal is, but Daniel Caesar’s music is phenomenal.
I recently discovered him after his collab with Jacob Collier. And let me tell you, it was love at first listen:
This is a musical genre map!
From the website:
“Every Noise at Once is an ongoing attempt at an algorithmically-generated, readability-adjusted scatter-plot of the musical genre-space, based on data tracked and analyzed for 4,000 genre-shaped distinctions by Spotify as of 2020-02-28. The calibration is fuzzy, but in general down is more organic, up is more mechanical and electric; left is denser and more atmospheric, right is spikier and bouncier.-EveryNoise.com

Click the » on a genre to see a map of its artists.”
I personally use it to search for artists to find out what genre they are categorized as. For example, I searched for Daniel Caesar to see what his related genres are. Then I clicked on the genres that popped up to see other artists related with that genre. It’s such a cool way to discover new music based off of what you already like!
It’s also a great tool to discover new genres! There’s thousands of genres on this website I’ve never head of, but discovered by hearing samples of what’s being played in other people’s worlds!
4: Julia Plays Groove
This month, I found this absolute GEM.
This girl is so beyond talented, and can genuinely bring a smile to your face through her bass playing. Whenever I see a new video from her in my subscription box, I am stoked! Just watch!
And that’s all I got for my music favorites for February!
Stay tuned for next month’s favorites!
And as always, best of luck to you in your musical endeavors this month. I’ll be here cheering you on!
